Long Odds this weekend.

thomas -225 vs. kiilu +185: neither guy is that great. kiilu realy has not beat a decent fighter in his career. thomas has. neither has a great chin. thomas should win but this is not a "safe" bet.

godfrey -150 vs. cora jr. +120: cora jr. has been declining and godfrey has been ascending as far as skill goes. i think the cora is exposed as being very hitable and godfrey will take advantage of that. a late stoppage for godfrey would be my guess.

walker -325 vs. garcia +250: im calling an upset here. walker has not imprssed me at all. he was given a gift vs. gavern. almost beaten by limited journeyman andrew greeley and i think estrada won his last fight. garcia is the latino tony tubbs. he has fast hands, seems to have a decent chin and i think he wins a close ugly decision. walker hasnt been exposed as being chinny yet...but he will be soon.

clottey -280 vs. corrales +220: wow!!!! cant believe these odds. i thought it would be an even money fight. i know diego is coming off a few defeats and is going way up in weight vs. a tough fighter...but the man has 2 things that will keep in any fights....heart and power. clottey broke his hand just 4 months ago!!! if he bounces a couple off corrales head, knocks corrales down....maybe corrales can get up and stop him. i dont know....i think clottey wins but I LOVE these odds. im going to go for corrales by tko/ko and have fun rooting for him.

calzaghe -950 vs. manfredo +550: joe c should win this fight easy but.....he is a 35 year old fighter, fought allot of rounds and has complained of injuries for years. all that could add up in this fight. manfredo will never be better than he is right now. cal is the better fighter but i think the timing might be just right for manfredo. i like the long odds and im going to go for an upset. like tszyu, rjj and morales; calzaghe is due to get old and when fighters get old it usually shows up quick.

takaloo -115 vs. jennings -115: an iranian vs. a brit!!! nice, fits well with the current events. i think jennings has to be KO'ed to lose. no way an iranian fighter will get a decision in britain this weekend.

maccaroni -5000 vs. gunn +2000: dont let the pretty odds fool you. gunn doesnt have a chance. ive seen gunn live many times and he is slow footed, bad balance, horrid defense and his chin isnt very hot. mac KO's him in under 3.

lockett -1000 vs. blundell +600: lockett will KO blundell early.

10 on a 5 man thomas, godfrey, jennings, mac, lockett parlay.
20 on garcia
20 on corrales
20 on manfredo
20 on jennings
5 on corrales by decision
5 on manfredo by tko/ko/dq (hoping joe c. quits, cuts or breaks)

long odds on all these wagers. only need 2-3 of them to hit for a profitable weekend

UFC fight night 04-05-07!!!!!

ufc fight night
stevenson -150 vs. guillard +125: this is a pretty even fight, both guys lost to neer. i think guillard has a better killer instinct. ill take the underdog in an even fight.

mccully +350 vs. hardonk -500: i know mccully is a late replacement but hardonk shouldnt be a 5-1 fave. hardonk should win but i like mccully's odds. this is mma so shit happens.

mishima +200 vs. florian -240: florian has improved allot. mishima is old and not as technically sound as you would think. florian probally wins this one by submission.

nakamura +130 vs. fickett -160: i like nakamura in an upset. fickett has good all-around skill but doesnt do anything great. he doesnt seem to know how to win a tough fight either. nakamura is due for a rebound and might surprise fickett.

petz +150 vs. hironaka -180: another upset i like. petz isnt that great but im not high on hironaka. hironaka didnt seem to take a punch to well vs. fitch. everytime he got hit hard he retreated into defense mode the rest of the round. not enough rounds in mma to give them away.

petruzelli +210 vs. gouveia -270: petruzelli has horrid stamina. gouveia can easily stop him if this goes more than 1 round.

carneiro +125 vs. clementi -150: i dont know a thing about carneiro except that he looks funny. good odds for clementi in a fight he should easily win.

kotani +250 vs. tavares -350: tavares is supposed to win this easy. they arent matching him up with anything special in his ufc debut.15 on guillard15 on mccully15 on nakamura15 on petz20 on florian

14 bouts this weekend. lots of money to be made.small -115 vs. wright -115: small's nickname is "sugar ray clay jones jr." so even though i havent seen him fight, id guess he is fast. wright can jab. thats about it though. i like small winning this one on his home turf.reid +140 vs. smith -170: easy money fight of the week. smith should be favored by allot more. reid isnt horrible but he is old and doesnt have enough juice left to beat smith.minter -145 vs. curriel +115: im not high on curiel. he doesnt seem to have much and he is just a few bouts off of that 4 year break. minter should have the tools needed to win. clark -105 vs. wright -125: ive never thought clark was that good. he does well vs. journeymen but always loses when he steps up. this is a winable fight for both fighters and the odds reflect that.bundrage -210 vs. mcneil +170: bundrage is limited but he should have enough power to beat mcneil. mcneil doesnt bring anything special to the table. should be an easy win for bundrage but fighting overseas....who knows.gomez -350 vs. concepcion +275: gomez is a good fighter. he wasnt blessed with many natural skills besides the ability to take a punch. he has done the most with what he has though. concepcion has lost 3 straight to guys that gomez would probally beat. the only problem that gomez may face is the fact that concepcion fights at a higher weight....but gomez can carry 154 pretty well.ravelo -270 vs. buchanan +210: ravelo has lost to both top 10 fighters he has faced. buchanan keeps winning upsets. havent seen much of buchanan so im hesitant to wager on him. wouldnt doubt it if buchanan gets a sd win though.reid -260 vs. brinkley +200: reid is a real fighter...brinkley plays one on tv. seriously...brinkley has lost 4 in a row and he quit his last fight ahead on the cards. reid wins easy.bami -450 vs. lauri +350: bami won the first...should win the second.sanders -1150 vs. mahfood +650: mahfood has rode that ann wolfe victory long enough. easy win for sanders. mahfood hasnt been trying at all lately. sanders is much smaller...but punching power rarely beats technique is womens fighting.julio -1800 vs. davis +1000: i like this one.davis is tall and wild.... but he has some pop. julio punches fast and hard....also wild. the odds should be allot closer. ill take davis with the long odds. he should only be a +400 dog.gonzalez -325 vs. pacheco +250: pacheco is old and he looks it. ive read he recieved a major hometown gift in his last fight (i had his opp with great dog odds to!!!) gonzalez fought a good brawl vs. vaz in a step up to 122. this ones at 118...gonzalez will tko/ko pacheco.bojorquez -200 vs. sanchez +160: should be a good brawl. bojorquez has many lives as a fighter. he looked done years ago but keeps coming back with big wins or gutsy performances. sanchez may have enough to pull an upset. this fight can go either way. hill -500 vs. maske +350: hill will stop maske. maske has taken too long off. hill has stayed semi-active and thats what will count. maske's people promoted a sparring session as a "win" obviously trying to build up their fighters psyche. hill should retire after this win. he would be a HOFer based on numbers.20 on a 4 man parlay on small, smith, minter and wright20 on a 5 man gomez, reid, bami, gonzalez, hill.10 on davis50 on hill by KO/TKO/DQ50 on gonzalez KO/TKO/DQas for final 4.i made a 5 point teaser with ucla +8 and osu +6. 50 wagered to win 38.50taking osu straight up when the money odds come out.

wagers this week

the bell-mormeck fight on 3-17 has crazy odds. bell is a +150 dog. did jmm fix his stamina issues when he gained a bunch of weight and fought at heavyweight?\onto this weeks action. i re-upped 150 and got a free t-shirt and some silver package "expert" picks on college basketball (that im sure will be the same expert picks i get with my sporting news subscription)maludrottu -500 vs. napa +300: napa is small and was beaten by a guy malu beat twice. that and the fact that maludrottu has the cool name of the week and i think he is a lock to win.mathews -600 vs. derry +400: see above escept for the cool name part. easy win for mathews.smith -1100 vs. polizzi +800: its gimme weekend in england i guess, another gimme fight, however looks like smith has another fight scheduled later this month....maybe he overlooks this old vet this weekend?m'baye -185 vs. kotelnik +155: mbaye won the first, probally wins the second. good odds for a man with a win over his opp.narvases -200 vs. asloum +160: i like asloums chances. he is fighting at home, he can box and his only loss was to the super-underated lorenzo parra. good odds, good chance at an upset.klit -800 vs. austin +500: i wish they had round odds on this one. i imagine klit would come in at around 3-1 or so on a 1st round KO. easy win, austin might actually last the distance...and maybe...just maybe if he lasts into the late rounds he has a chance. i think wlad gets rid of him in 5 minutes or less though. ibrigimov -1300 vs. mora +700: sportsbook has result props but no odds availible. im going to wager large on sultan by ko/tko/dq. as far as mora goes; fres oquendo almost stopped him in 1, kirk johnson gave him hell until ge ganked his knee and until it got ruled a NC that was mora's biggest win. mora is slow with a porous defense and i dont think he takes a shot well. hopefully he at least gets a good payday for this fight.50 on a 5 man asloum, malu, mathews, smith, mbaye parlay25 on sultan to win by KO/TKO/DQ15 on asloum10 on mbaye

chance of upsets

i think there are some upsets to be had this week.
soto-toledo: soto is good, with the rare combo of youth and ring experience. i can see the guy holding onto a few belts down the road. toledo is more of a showcase, hopefully afterwards soto takes on some of the elites. soto pays -2500, only good for parlays.

mesi-linberger: heres a chance to make some solid cash!!! linberger pays +600. had this fight happened pre-bleed id say this is an easy mesi tko1. however, since the jirov blows to the back of mesi's head, joe hasnt been the same. he is slow with poor reflexes. linberger is terrible but he is allot better than the guys mesi has fought recently. a few of those guys gave mesi a rough time. mesi retires after this fight.

tua-hawkins: hawkins doesnt have enough power to keep tua honest. this one may go the distance, may be closer than it should be, but tua wins. tua pays -2500, at this price hawkins may be worth a small wager.

abazi-guerrero: this is a no win for the ghost. guerrero has KO abazi to win. he wont get the decision in denmark, where some truelly horrid hometown decisions have happened. abazi pays -135

davis-wilson: 2 small heavies/blown up cruisers. wilson has done halfway decent vs. heavies he has faced, so im guessing he has the power over davis. davis looks tough but he doesnt take a shot very well and his stamina is terrible. ill go with wilson paying -150

marrone-barnes: ever since i saw marrone almost get KOed by zack page ive been low on him. barnes is a solid jounryman due an upset win. marrone is probally better than maddalone and gavern though, 2 guys that beat barnes. marrone pays -1800, which is too much. barnes might be decent at +1000 for a small wager.

banks-ayala: when its a rematch i tend to go for the guy that won the first fight. when the first winner pays +235, i jump all over it. maybe it was a bad decision but it still counts. banks won the first fight and pays +235

montiel-gorres: montiel is a good fighter that has never lost a fight that wasnt real close. gorres is fighting in his home country. latino fighters have been getting shafted in asia for the last few years, im guessing gorres wins by SD. gorres pays +175

35 on linberger
20 on 2 man soto, wilson
20 on banks
20 on gorres
20 on 2 man soto, abazi
5 on barnes
5 on a 5 man soto, tua, banks, abazi, gorres parlay

im guessing tommy morrison wins his comeback fight also

Wagers for week of 02.09

a nice small week of quality fights.
johanssen-burns: this is a hard fight to call. burns is tricky and he handed graham earl his first loss. johanssen probally has the tools to win but i wouldnt count burns out. burns pays +115

chambers-rossy: 2 prospects fighting, who cares if neither is really that great. chambers probally has enough skill to avoid anything rossy can bring. fast eddie probally cruises to an easy, boring UD. chambers pays -240

juarez-lucero: there was a bad line on the sportsboard when this first came out. the first line read juarez -170, i knew that was a mistake. its been corrected to -1700 and thats right on the money. easy win for rocky.

mosley-collazo: i think mosley wins this fight, allthough it may not be pretty. he has the tools and does the little things that will help him get a decision. collazo is game but in the longrun just doesnt have the physical tools to compete with sugar shane. also collazo will not enjoy the size advantage he had vs. hatton. mosley by TKO/KO/DQ is a good bet because collazo bleeds. mosley pays -360

harris-lazcano: juan lazcano came in fat his last fight vs. fringe contender garnica and almost got beat. probally got a gift from what i have read, before that he was wrecking solid fighters. harris is overated and i think he is badly overpriced at -295. juan lazcano paying +235 is solid wager. this is a really a pick'em, and in my mind almost losing to a journeyman is not as bad as being knocked out by one like harris was not so long ago.

ward-salazar: this is the easy money fight. ward pays -1300. she has allready beat salazar and will beat her again simply because she will be about 9 inches taller than her. ward also proves that someone can be brutally KO'ed and still come back. her ko loss to wolfe was as hard of a KO as ive ever seen.

kikui-kono: kikui has allready won a close fight vs. kono. however i think kono has a pretty awesome name. kohei kono sounds like a ninja. ill wager on a ninja everytime. kono pays +140

30 on a 5 man mosley, chambers, juarez, lazcano, ward parlay.
30 on a 3 man chambers, ward, juarez parlay
30 on lazcano
20 on chambers
10 on kono the ninja.
10 on mosley by ko/tko/dq

Top 25 Heavies for January

my top 25 heavyweights as of 12-12-06. to be updated 01-22-07
1. wladimir klitschko: remains #1.
2. sam peter: will have to KO toney to generate more hype for a wlad rematch.
3. james toney: looked fat recently, probally on his way to another loss or draw.
4. shannon briggs: I think he gets KO'ed vs. sultan.
5. nicolay valuev: mccline is the perfect opponent for him.
6. oleg maskaev: thank god he didnt lose to okhello, oleg loses to the first semi-decent conteder he faces.
7. calvin brock: probally have him overanked, will drop him if he doesnt look good in his next fight.
8. sergei lyakhovich: see #7.
9. ruslan chagaev: id favor him over mccline or valuev, valuev would be a closer fight though.
10. sultan ibragimov: gets his shot vs. the 2nd most beatable titlist.
11. ray austin: soon to be fodder for a young gun.
12. hasim rahman: he will be a 10 loss gatekeeper by 09.
13. john ruiz: see #12.
14. lamon brewster: should be back soon, see #7.
15. chris byrd: i think he is done, floyd patterson type retirement for byrd.
16. matt skelton: might as well fight audley.
17. evander holyfield: id favor him over maskaev big.
18. oliver mccall: showed last week that he can still pour it on when he has to.
19. wladimir virchis: good resume, his only loss was controversial to #9.
20. david tua: fighting journeymen all the way to a title shot aka. the maskaev route .
21. michael moorer: power alone gets him a ranking. can still dominate clubfighters.
22. davarryl williamson: has enough pop to hurt anyone. still dangerous for prospects wanting into the top 25. good gatekeeper.
23. jameel mccline: last chance vs. valuev, better fight like he wants to win rather than just fighting to survive.
24. alexander povetkin: did what he should have done to mayfield, should fight a gatekeeper next.
25. tony thompson: guinn almost got upset last week, that makes his biggest win have less luster.

the 15 outside looking in (no order): oleg platov, eddie chambers, malik scott, larry donald, luan krasniqui, jf bergeron, jd chapman, roman greenberg, mike mollo, taras bidenko, alexander dimitrenko, chris arreola, tye fields, travis walker and brian minto.

ray mercer is the latest old man to make a comeback. he will be fighting this weekend vs. a journeyman.

danny williams career is officially over. he got allot of mileage out of that tyson victory; not training for big fights was a bad career move though.

Best KO in awhile

check out this fight from last weeks UFC.

its the best KO ive ever seen, i knew that silly bastard was going to get caught, the KO is at 6:20 into the clip.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=01N3-bY_BYY

SUPERBOWL

Superbowl.

the colts are -7 faves paying just -250.

it will the first time in awhile i havent bet on the dog in a championship game.

i personally think defense wins championships, however peyton manning is a new breed of QB. having him is like having an extra coach on the field. give that guy two weeks of studying tape and i think he finds one of the few holes in that bears D. also rex grossman has had 2 good games and the man is due to screw up.

120 on the colts
5 on the colts to win by 1-6
5 to win by 7-12
5 on heads on the coin flip.
5 on peyton to win mvp
5 on freeney
5 on the final score of 27-16

The Big Weekend!!!!

The Big Weekend.

boxing first, of course

stevens-mack: stevens is heavily hyped and i dont know why. he is average, i even think his power is overated. its easy to get KO's when fighting guys that have little to no skill. mack isnt a world beater but he is a bit better than stevens. mack pays +115.

lawrence-guinn: i bet against guinn vs. page and almost won a big upset (ive read that page and i were robbed) guinn is now just fighting to get a paycheck. lawrence may have gotten knocked cold in his last fight but ive seen that happen plenty of times to guys and they recover. lawrence was always a defensive first fighter anyways and guinn will probally help him out by only throwing 20-30 punches a round. lawrence pays +200

kirkland-lyell: kirkland has all the skill needed to win easy. pays only -1100

bradley-garnica: it depends what garnica shows up. the portly slow garnica that got KO'ed by mike rosales, or the counterpuncher that beat up mausa and was robbed vs. lazcano? neither of those guys have much anymore though. bradley is a fireplug and will be a contender for years to come, i think he makes a statement with this win. bradley pays -200

baloyi-ruiz: ruiz is not as bad as his record and baloyi is not as good as his. however ruiz makes it a habit of losing decisions in his opps backyard. chances are he will lose another whether he deserves it or not. baloyo pays -875

ali-o'neal: easy money here. ali should win just as easy as she did a few years ago. we need uglier, tougher women to fight. watching these same ladies fight over and over makes womens boxing almost impossible to watch. ali pays -7000

adamek-dawson: dawson is still a +160 dog. this should be an even fight. adamek has fought and beat the better comp. but those guys had a style that suits his. its easy to get the tough wins when your opps. style fits yours so well. adameki has heart and a good punch but dawson will be the first guy he has fought that can box circles around him. im all over dawson at +160

diaz-chavez: ive seen too many guys lose their edge after an opponent dies. chavez seems like he may be one of those, top that off with the fact that he has been plagued with injuries and diaz has impressed me allot lately, ill take diaz at -140spinks-jones: why the hell is spinks only -260? jones and spinks have close to the same style, however spinks is allot faster. spinks will win this by scores of 118-110, 119-109 and that sort.

rabah-ndou: a pick'em. i like ndous take all comers attitude and his underdog odds so ill go with him paying +115. i have no real rhyme or reason for doing so though.

20 on mack
10 on lawrence
15 on diaz
30 on dawson
30 on spinks
5 on ndou
10 on a 5 man mack, lawrence, bradley, kirkland, diaz parlay.
10 on a 4 man dawson, spinks, ali, baloyi parlay.

A hardcore old classic brawl!!!

its a big dl but a fight fan will love this all-action brawl.

This weeks fight wagers 1.24-1.28

UFC first

evans-salmon: i think evans is pretty good. gets gassed, has lapses in concentraion, but he makes up for those faults with heart. i think he wins this easy. rashad only pays -650, shit happens in mma, so the dog may not be a bad idea.

herring-o'brien: herring is an overated fighter that built a rep on a cheapshot, remember the guy has lost 11 times despite being able to knock a defensless fighter cold. ill take the undefeated, young o'brien in an upset paying +315.

marquardt-lister: lister has improved allot since his start in mma. i figured he would be the fave in this fight but he pays +200. im surprised.

reiner-burkman: burkman is allright and a -410 fave. dont know much about reiner.herman-price: mentally i think herman is done. he is not as good as he thinks he is. ill take price paying +400.

guida-thomas: this is a pick-em at -115 for both guys. i cant decide who i think will win either. a coinflip pick is probally a safe one.

pointon-clementi: pointon looks means but he is no problem to beat. clementi pays -400.

30 on o'brien
30 on lister
15 on price

the boxingsolis-grigsby: easy money fight of the week. this fight ends up the same as the first. solis winning by a wide decision. solis pays -600.

cauthen-frank: neither guy impresses me. probally end up being an ugly draw. cauthen is actually a fave paying -235

bute-tatevosyan: bute probally wins easy but tatevosyan is live and paying +900. good odds for a guy that should only pay +450 or so.

munyai-power: ive allready lost money on power in the first fight. then i lost money on haskins when munyai kicked his ass. munyai pays -800, probally too high but im not gonna lose again on munyai.

johnston-harris: johnston is a canidate to get old quick. he took allot of damage vs. vivian and lazcano. harris may be the right guy at the right time. ill take harris paying +200.guiterrez-reid: reid hits with everything but he is another guy that can get old quick. guiterrez pays -115, thats great value.

escalante-pastrana: escalante is a good bet but only pays -600.

erdei-santiago: erdei probally wins a wide decision but -3000 is too high of odds for him.arce-ler: arce pays -2200. ler is worth a longshot.

pavlik-zertuche: pavlik hits like a ton but leaves his chin out. zertuche is old and getting worn but i think he surprises pavlik. how many times does a prospect get blasted on his big HBO debut? i can think of a few times. zertuche pays an excellent +525

10 on harris

35 on zertuche
